- In chapter 1, we focused on those who openly rebel against God's ways.
- In chapter 2, we consider the vanity of the religious who claim to obey God but show by their works that they do not.

Romans 2 Notes
Key ideas:
Romans Study: January Notes
Romans (Men's study; meets the 2nd Wed. of the month)
- Our first meeting considered the background of Romans.
- Two interesting considerations where
- The church in Rome having been likely founded by Paul's converts
- The poet Coleridge's opinion that Romans is the most profound work in existence.
- J. Vernon McGee (we're listening to him in our intro.) is not a poster boy for Reformed theology; we should get to one of them a bit later. McGee has some excellent scholarship and fresh air to him I wanted to open the book with. There's a warmth to his teaching I've always admired. For those interested, you can hear him on his perspective on divine election and free will (he doggedly held to both):
- Our next meeting is Feb. 13th, 7-9pm; 51 Roosevelt St., Watsonville.
Romans Study
Men, you are invited to study Romans with us.
- Where? 51 Roosevelt St. in Watsonville, CA, at the home of Marcus and Meris Schwager.
- When? The second Wednesday night of each month, 7-9 pm.
- What do I bring? Nothing. Refreshments are neither required nor provided; bring anything you wish to share, and I will put out whatever I can dig up.
- What do you do? Our focus is prayer and discipleship as we study Romans together:
- Read part of Romans
- Hear a good preacher or teacher on that section (starting with J. Vernon McGee)
- Discuss
- Pray for one another
