Greetings Mootonians!
First, due to many folks with summer
travel plans, the Long Bow League (our Chestertonian society) will go on
summer sabbatical for the months of June and July to return refreshed
on Wednesday, August 27.
Second, our next book is The Devil and Pierre Gernet by David B. Hart.
I've read a few snatches, and I think Chesterton will be cheering us on from his sunny perch in heaven. I don't doubt that Hart crediting the Devil with inventing Vegetarianism owes something to our portly patron.
In his preface, David B. Hart said of The Devil and Pierre Gernet: "I shall simply say that this is the only book I have written with which I am truly satisfied." I expect I will be repeating that line for years to come (that it is the only book of Hart's with which I am truly satisfied!).
